Abstract Purpose of review This provides an overview recent developments in the field eosinophilic gastritis (EG) and duodenitis (EoD) with emphasis on diagnostic criteria, clinical manifestation available or emerging treatments. Recent findings Eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases such as EG EoD are chronic inflammatory conditions symptoms increased density mucosal cells. data suggest association between increases duodenal eosinophils patients functional dyspepsia. Eosinophil infiltrates patchy, counts fluctuate seasons, diet, medications geographic factors. Country-specific reference ranges remain to be defined. Few treatment trials explored symptomatic improvement resolution infiltration Summary Eosinophils part physiologic adaptive innate immune response. A link particular dyspepsia has been observed but a causal remains established.
